I disagree. The market is more often wrong. If the market was always right, we wouldn’t have seen massive gaps down on downgrades, because a ‘right’ market would have factored the downgrades in? Much the same with SP upward gaps, many times the market hasn’t factored in positive news, causing significant gaps on the way up. Just look at the historical graph of the A2 share price for plenty of evidence of gaps ups and gaps down.
