You are in the camp of people who believe the company should just make announcements for the sake of propping up the share price and making you feel good. So yes, management has clearly failed at giving this camp of people what they want. Personally I am completely fine with that.
What I want to see is quarterly reporting. That way the market isn't just reading tea leaves in between the annual and half year reporting. It would keep SP more in line with the company fundamentals. In many ways I think this would benefit both the company management and shareholders alike because it would keep market expectations away from excessive pessimism or optimism.
