Everyone seems to be missing the point, other than declining birth rates etc etc, albeit A2M has been growing market share in spite of this. That's seems to be being overlooked, so there must be something else upsetting investors right?
It has been broadcast for weeks and months that
China's domestic milk production achieved capacity targets two years early (in 2023 rather than 2025) and there is now a glut of excessive supply and reducing demand. This uncertainty by itself will be unsettling for A2M investors (and I don't mean us minnows, I mean the big money), but with this and along with all the other macro factors, dairy in China is an 'avoid' or 'get out' investment.
There is also the more recent Trump threats of extreme tariffs. With USA being one of A2M's 'emerging markets', it's not surprising really that uncertainty of how that will affect A2M is now top of mind.
Hardly surprising the mood is to sell down holdings. On the other hand, for believers in the longer term, this is just another excellent buying opportunity, or will be when the TA turns up again.
