I couldn't find a past chart thread re VOC (well not with 'chart' in the heading anyway).
As a trader I've been keeping a low profile since prices fell of a cliff generally at the end of February but I feel the bottom is probably in. Many pundits say a further retrace with new lows is not impossible - and while I too expect a retracement (I thought today might have seen the start of a pullback but as I write the market is up over 2% with its afterburners glowing) I don't see new lows and I've decided make a few cautious buys in stocks less likely to be impacted by what will be a long economic recovery out of recession.
VOC is one I've been watching as it made what I felt was a Wyckoff pattern and while the fall below the rectangle representing the pattern on the chart is a really big spring - if that's what it is - it suggests this is a time to buy. The retest of the lower pattern boundary fits the theory which says prices should generally keep making higher highs and lows for a time (the pattern doesn't have a target yet). The weekly chart doesn't reflect higher highs yet, only the daily, but that's not surprising given the sustained decline through March. VOC looks to have completed Elliott Wave C and is rising on Wave 1. Wave 2 is not far away and could see the material retracement that retests lows referred to above - so VOC probably isn't a sit and hold proposition. There is some good news around about the virus having peaked and relaxing restrictions which should lead to some positive sentiment that might push the ASX along for a while. I've got a target of $3.18 for a short trade but there is resistance at $3.00 which needs to be watched. Finally, for anyone into time lines (and not many are) price fell into a line yesterday so I was expecting today to be an up day for the stock.
