Prominent researchers are calling for a national COVID-19 research strategy as the number of clinical trials of coronavirus drugs and vaccines explodes. They warn without a nationally co-ordinated strategy researchers are likely to duplicate work, step on each other's toes and fight over scarce funding.There are two separate trials of the lupus drug hydroxychloroquine. One of those trials will also test HIV drug Kaletra.An Australian trial of remdesivir, an unsuccessful Ebola drug, has also been mooted.
