I want to understand the context of what you’re referring to. I calculate a lot as part of the research and analysis I do, so I don’t want to take what you’re asking out of context.

I would hazard a guess that you have taken the word calculations as numerically speaking (mathematical algorithms), rather than the calculation of the probability of something happening based on a range of different measurements (FA and TA).

calculate also means to determine by reasoning,
commonsense or practicalexperience , estimate, evaluate or gauge.
