It would be the same motivation they already have for BNPL in general with Affirm & Afterpay. There has to be a reason why retailers don't just tell every other BNPL company to get stuffed and tell their customers to just use pay-anywhere Zip.
I'm not an expert in retailing but Zip are still signing up merchants and doing deals. It's hard for me to say what their motivation would be. I even asked myself why they promote certain large retailers on social media for free without having a merchant deal. They should only reward and promote partnered merchants on FB & Insta.
I'm putting my faith in what Larry says. He says both Zip & Sezzle missed out on deals because they didn't have enough customers so we'll have to wait and see what this new larger customer base can achieve. Larry reckons he'll have more bargaining power now.
