In my humble opinion I think everyone who invests, not just traders should have a basic chart understanding. Candlestick charting is easy to learn and has a fascinating history. But as a wise man once said "charting is simple, but a long way from easy!" lol.
Anyway for those interested, the black candle from Friday was bigger than the green from Thursday. So it "engulfed" the green candle. ie. the drop in SP was bigger than the gain in SP from Thursday. Its an indication that SP could drop further today and in "normal" circumstances the chances are it could. But given the anticipation of ANNs and top down things happening it was no surprise we ended green today.
Maybe we will see another black or red candle tomorrow as the SP could hover before ANN, who knows!
