Yea but far far less than when they make through merchant fees. And this is important because any revenue is looked at on a risk-adjusted basis. e.g the lower the fees the less of a viable financially product it is due to associated credit losses. Its hard to properly explain but to understand the concept you can look into how banks calculate risk-adjusted performance measures like RAROC and economic profit.
Hence why i think the announcement is good but its not blowing my socks off.
