I never know the bottom ha! if I didn't I wouldn't be working a 9-5!
I always wait for price consolidation for a period of a few days. I have to be able to see low volatility and the market agree on the new floor prior to jumping back in.
the graph I've thrown up a few times shows consolidation every time prior to the rallies but this consolidation always occurs after the bottom.
so I miss the bottom but I never get burned...depending on your risk profile you can either try to catch the knife or enter from a more comfortable position. each to their own
