Yes the charts show history, but they also show recent history and the trend direction.
If the future was a blank canvas, we would be just gambling and could not make a profit over time on average.
We have fundamentals to give us a guide on likely future direction, but we obviously need to look at the macro situation as well- as the GFC made all too clear.
