"If you want to chart ABU, chart the POG. Fundamentals are all irrelevant in relation to explorers."

There is some correlation there Leroy, between POG and gold stocks, but fundamentals are not irrelevant.
Compare the sp performance of ABU to AZM and NMG, etc for example.

ABU is currently around 36% off its highs of last year while AZM, NMG are off roughly 80% or more (Gold is only 11% off its highs).

AZM; 82c last year to 12c now (NMG almost the same price move) and ABU 8.2c to 5.2c.
$10,000 in AZM at its high is now worth $1,460. $10,000 in ABU at its high is now worth $6,200.
Huge difference there- ABU holding a nice three year up trend since 2009 lows.
Many of us (more likely most of us) did not buy near last years high and are sitting on a profit with ABU.
Almost all that bought the other two mentioned any time over the last couple of years are likely to be suffering heavy losses if still holding.

    Same applies to producers.
Some are still near or not far off this years' lows and way off last years highs (AQG, NCM, -and RMS a more extreme example) while others like SLR are closer to last years highs and still others like Regis and NST now higher than last years high.

You really can't generalise despite some correlation to POG.
If you managed to pick the right ones you could be in good profit over the last year instead of strong losses.
Fundamentals must have a lot to do with the big variations in performance of both producers and explorers.

In the 2009-2011 bull market for gold stocks, it didn't matter too much about fundamentals, but with some stocks, almost all of those gains were erased this year.
This last year, fundamentals have been critical to our gold portfolios performance.

In 2011 it appears many sp's got ahead of their fundamentals (with some by a very larger degree).
The same may have applied to ABU at 8c considering there was not even a jorc for OP yet.
A lot has changed for the better for ABU this year to improve the fundamentals strongly.
I think the weaker sector has held ABU back despite its strong achievements.
I also think that won't last much longer. ABU has been outperforming many of its peers but when those peers finally rally (perhaps when POG makes new highs again), ABU's sp will no longer be held back by the sector.
