Purely hypothetical.
And yes, if there were selective briefings of information in any listed company then that is against the ASX rules and yes, the company and management would be in trouble. But I am quite sure that with the ASIC issues over the scoping study and the Newcrest saga all over the media it would be a brave director that even thought about giving away confidential information.
More likely is that Shaws have been sitting on a report (they visited site 7 months ago) and have not been able to release it due to conflicts of interest. With Tolga resigning several weeks ago that has enabled them to finalise things.
