ive updated the pru Vs gold chart.

the % numbers you can see above the red and blue line are the respective moves of each gold and pru shareprice. down below you see the ratio of both moves combined. so for every 1% move in gold spot PRU's shareprice moved 4x, 5x, 8x and rah rah rah.

If you were to add the ratios excluding the most recent from 20th december onwards (the section in thick grey vertical lines) you would get a move of 5% on avg (rounded) in PRU's shareprice for every 1% move in spot gold. As you can see the correlation between the two is obvious.

now, this is the interesting part.....

have a look from the new year onwards... dont you think this maybe a bit excessive considering only a 8% move in spot has eventuated.

i can argue the other side also, but if you were to use the data from this chart (very small set i know) to satisfy PRU's 115% increase and assuming the 5:1 ratio:

pru is currently pricing gold @ 2% shy of 1500/ounce

if you were to look at it another way,

gold is saying pru should have only rallied 40% to approx .36 cents.
