I thought I'd explore a bit further the trends in our performance and a couple of peers, since when you simply plot the performance from a certain date, things can get very skewed very quickly, depending on which specific date that is and which company was having a blip that day (or not)!

So, what I did was construct a scenario of investing $1000 at the start of each month for the past few years (since Jan 2017), and see how the performance of that investment compares up to now (until Friday 17th Jan 2020).

Of course this required manual entry of each share price on the first trading day of each month, so there may be a transcription error in there somewhere, but I'm fairly confident the numbers are correct. After some number crunching, I output the data in a few forms...

So, what does this show us..?

The first chart I call "Rollercoaster"
It shows the cumulative return of the invested capital from 1st Jan 2017 until 20th Jan 2020.
Big peak early 2018 and subsequent slide is clear.
    Recent upturn also very clear.
GXY and ORE investments tracked very similarly with a couple of periods of divergence/offset - Early 2018 and from about May 2019.
PLS went well in late 2017 but came back to the others around mid 2019.
Total ORE investment almost breaking even!
Others catching up! (down 30-odd % sounds like a lot but can change very quickly - e.g. the ORE investment was also down 33% less than 2 months ago and now is only down 2%.
    Interesting!

The second chart I call "Come back to me"
It shows the cumulative value of the investment throughout the period and also the actual cumulative investment ($1000 per month).
It is simply another representation of the above date, also illustrating that the GXY and ORE investments were essentially in positive territory up until late 2018, whilst the PLS investment stayed positive til mid-2019, or for about 6 months longer.
@ $1000 invested each month ($37,000 total), the current values are:
    GXY: $23,237
    PLS: $25,600
    ORE: $36,415
    ...but can change very quickly!

The third chart I call "Where are they now?"
It shows the current value of each individual $1000 parcel that was invested at the start of each month.
It shows that most parcels invested this year in ORE are up, whilst only more recent parcels in GXY and PLS are in the green.

In this investment scenario overt he past 3 years, GXY is behind, yes. Does this mean it will stay this way? Up to you to judge!
Personally I think we are looking at a bright future as we develop our next asset for production; time will tell.

Anyway, I thought this was an interesting exercise and i hope some found it to be too!

    Cheers
