Hi @tutor - is there any reason that you can think of that would prevent some reasonably accurate tracking of the covers by comparing the reported short sales on a daily basis with the total reported % of shorted shares at the same point in time?
Hypothetical Example (using rough approx only) - lets say at close of trade on Thursday the % of reported outstanding shorts is 18% We then discover that on the following day Friday there is reported short sales of say 2.0850M shares or 0.5% of shares on issue. However when we have the reported total short sales % for close of trade Friday it indicates 18.25% (rather than 18.5% if no covering occurred) Is there any reason why a presumption can not be made that short sales were covered in the amount of 1.0425M shares or 0.25% of SOI during the course of Fridays sales ?
Thanks in advance
