Why bother with centralised power except to subsidise large scale industry like Aluminium etc unless of course people are happy being slaves to the corporations forever.
Localised power generation from wind and solar with battery storage will give power to the people.

exactly , more jobs more production more innovation. Industry the thing that drives a prosperous economy and therefor country and standard of living. i want my aircon and heating running 24/7 and enough juice to charge my tesla after all .
