Agree that the general environment made today's play possible, but I think the play was heavily manipulated on the downside today. It didn't look to me like a lot of profit takers or nervous nellies, but rather a concerted effort to push down, but countered by some group with a reason to hold the line at an agreed price. Admitted the nellies tend to panic, but profit takers tend to let the market rise up to them when it is pushing up, whereas some-one pushing it down tends to down sell into the up rise, retreat a little when there is to much push back, and try to exhaust the buyers, then pounce down again. That is what it looked like to me today, they even tried an iceberg towards the end.
