They don't care. They earn some interest in lending shares. If A,B,C wouldn't lend, XYZ will.
The solution is regulating it or making shorting illegal. But ASIC says it's ok even if shorting is 100%, it is legal.
If they can cap it to say 5% of daily trades just like apra limiting interest only loans to 10% it may help a bit.
