another way of looking at drawing in these patterns is point 2 came down to equal point 1 so is a more recent low point and could be seen as the new boundary. More recent data holds more weight generally.
point 4 did not fall to equal or exceed point 3 so is seen to still be bound within the boundary drawn from point 3.
