Jan 31, 2018 — 12.15am Save Share Well-known UBS banker turned money manager Jeff Emmanuel is set to begin knocking on doors, pitching his fund to outside investors for the first time.Street Talk can reveal the Hong Kong-based fund manager is ramping up marketing for his firm EFM Asset Management, booking meetings with institutions, family offices and high net worth individuals starting in Asia this week.Emmanuel's expected to seek to reprise relationships with Australian investors in the near-term. Up until now, Jeff Emmanuel has been investing his own money and on behalf of close associates. The fundraising discussions come as EFM Asset Management opens its high conviction strategy to new investors in a formal capacity for the first time.

Advertisement Emmanuel started EFM in 2015 and his concentrated global growth focus yielded a 44 per cent return in 2017, according to material in front of potential investors. The portfolio houses 20 companies picked on the back of fundamental research, which the firm reckons offer the prospect of sustainable double digit revenue growth. It is not just US stocks that have supported EFM's performance:
ASX-listed medical device group Polynovo and asset manager Blue Sky have doubled over the course of EFM's investment. Emmanuel is best known as the former head of equities at UBS in Sydney and for making a fortune as an early backer of Magellan Financial Group. He made his mark as a top rated banking analyst, but it is his personal investment approach that has delivered him big riches from punts on the likes of Goodman Group, Magellan and other local stocks including cloud company Rhipe Limited. He is now among the top ten shareholders in Magellan, according to Bloomberg data, with a stake valued at more than $50 million.
