Yes it is difficult. It is kind of not the thing done anyway to ask why one poster won and others didn't.
Nobody gets upset if their poster doesn't win an award. It is one of those things that is nice to get, but not too important (unless the award has serious money attached). Most people would rather have a lot of interest in their work from their peers and the senior people in the field rather than some poster award.
