this is a 3 - 5 year play for me, in 31 now, and i want to have paid my mortgage off in full at 35, have 53000 shares, $16 a share should cover my taxes and put me in the clear, that's relying on EMV do all the lifting and the other 3 large holdings i own to go bust (milk, medical, and financial). I wonder sometimes, if i sold up everything I've got in the other three and loaded it into here at $1 i would have paid the home loan off at 31
cant be too greedy, and diversification prevents us from getting caught out altogether. I sold 50,000 shares in a BNPL for a <10% profit this year after having held them through the up and the down, i originally brought in Feb and had a target to own them for 3-5 years(again to pay off my home loan), but somehow had traded them 50 times by March, it all became sickening, i hit sell. left 385k of the table within 4 weeks, i constantly think, why did i loose site of my 3 - 5 year target? It was all the trading that made me get "over it" if i just deleted commsec, came back in 3 months, id have been 400% up on my investment and have paid 50% my goal off by 31. The above behavior has haunted my investment decisions for years, ive picked plenty of winners but always sold in fear or frustration to early.
