This is not to throw cold water on this, but it seems to me that they would have already crunched the stats (made sure they had ore access) before committing to supply.
Same for VW. They wouldn't commit to 100% EV future production if they were not sure of battery supply.
I'm sure there is MUCH we pawns do not know that went on behind closed doors and was NEVER released to the public via media.
