23m+ feral pigs In Australia, knocking off a few hundred thousand wouldn't make a difference.
Feral pig control has been on the agenda from the fall out from the drought, it's a lot easier to kill feral pigs when they're drawn to water sources & paying farmers to do it gives them extra income.
In all honesty if Swine Fever does get to Australia there's nothing the government can do to stop it spreading if it gets into the feral pig population.
Just politicians trying to look like they're doing something.

If I was a pig farmer I'd be extremely concerned with the state of Australian's biosecurity controls. Fire ants, white spot on prawns, panama virus on bananas, calicivirus strain just appearing from nowhere. The list seems to be endless.
It doesn't help with idiots bring pork in their suitcases from overseas!
