Strangely, total outstanding shorts has increased from 1.488M shares (on 20/7) to 2.088M shares (on 21/7), an increase of 600K shares. Total traded volume on 21/7 was only 176K and (from memory) shorts on that day was well less than 10%.



Is it that the entity who returned 600K (on 19/7) re-borrowed the same number of shares?

Why? Is it to use these 600K of shares to play the market again? Today's SP action at around 10:30am was a bit unusual in recent days. After early morning SP increased to 83c, there were quick successive sold down of about 200K of shares to 78c (which cleared the good support of about 100K to buy at 80c).
