I wouldn’t be surprised if the retail part of the cap raise is well undersubscribed. There was no guarantee of getting more shares than your original allocation and when the price fell below the raise price, retailers prudently looked after themselves in the knowledge that the cap raise is underwritten.
BP will end up with a bagful, but no doubt they’ll have some buyers lined up to offload to.
