It goes by the name of spoofing on short side or layering on the upside.
The idea is, at the time the bid or offer is made, is to indicate that the price should move in that direction -- to the advantage of the impression of market price that the bidder or offerer wishes to create.
It is more common (or more easily seen) on quiet days when momentary price gaps occur.
The trades may be left there for milliseconds or minutes but usually disappear in or just before the close auction.
