Paradigmers, it's no revolutionary news that we are getting smashed in terms of SP, in fact it seems that we are getting smashed more than any others...in part this might be true ...why? Because we are a spec stock, we don't have revenues, no profits... we are far from paying stable or any dividends...
So I wanted to see how we compare with a more 'stable' infrastructure stock, a stock that does pay dividends and is regarded more of a stable established company...are we getting smashed way more than them? Well the answer is we are falling more than a lot...but take a look at us compared to my stable example of TCL - Transurban, there is no doubt more correlation that I thought as evidenced by the following trend line graphs superimposed.
One reason why it may feel more that we are being punished is the percentage its fallen from peak in the last few months, as an example both TCL and ANZ (just to use another blue chip example) both have roughly fallen to 2/3 their peak value over this time period..whereas we have dipped down to almost 1/3 of our peak just in the last few months. That's a big (and painful) difference.
Prob would be even more graphic to see the scales as a % rather than absolute price of underlying but I couldn't easily work out how to do that in the little time I'm allocating to this exercise...anyway you get my point. In fact just from the graph below it looks like TCL has fallen more, or at least over this time frame its back to it's price from Oct 2019 whereas we were 85 cents or so in Oct 2019..I guess we aren't too far from that but I would hope we don't go sub $1..anything of course is possible with what's going on out there...
If any of you chartists can it will be good to see it or any other comparison (another blue chip stock for example) or even TCL or ANZ as percentages....
In other words, don't take it personally!! All boats are going down in this lower tide...and "who cares" right Rusty?..in the future this will all be academic - my views.
