I previously have signed this petition but the best way to beat those people/companies who conduct these practices is to invest for the long term.
The 'dark practices' are all aimed at short term profits and generating churn. They really only affect the market in the short term. We long term investors have a competitive advantage over these traders because over the course of several years the short term effects wash out.
Invest regularly in quality businesses and hold for the long term and you will not be truly affected by the 'dark practices'.
