My guess on that is the campaigns being mentioned are a media scare campaign done to down ramp , cause fear, mistrust and mislead with false info & false reports. Mis-information exercise.
Now the BoTs are really just a tool to TRADE with. BoTs can be used for both down ramping and up ramping (pumping) as well as just normal trading/accumulation. They can also switch between these uses multiple times on a stock daily.
I would agree that they are a part of a Activist Shorting campaign as they help drop prices with both their price action & trading which falsely scares weak hands into selling. the "last" part of the Activist Shorting campaign tricks perhaps?
