To put it simply most gaps get filled because a gap sets up a negative sentiment that the rise after the gap is on false pretences ie people pushing the price up just to make quick money and get out with a quick profit for example. As been previously stated a run away gap will never be filled but most do end up getting filled. Hope that helps. R
