I hear what you are saying, and appreciate the comment, but IMHO it is not
only about people being "stuck", but even more about profit-taking.
My main point was that some resistance is to be expected here.
Most successful traders religiously take at least some profit (or place tight trailing
stops) at target levels. Some are sitting on a profit of many multiples of their initial
investment. That is essentially a large part of why consolidation patterns are formed.
Some might also consider it currently overvalued (not my area of expertise and
I appreciate those who post quality analysis on the matter).
There are many micro and macro factors that can affect the price of any
company and risk management, of which calculated profit taking is a major part,
is key to a more technically oriented trader who trades across a variety of
securities and markets.
Fundamentally anything can happen and theoretically, an announcement can
come out at any moment and a rocket under BRN that will make shot-term
technical projections irrelevant. The degree to which one is willing to rely on that
or wait through possible periods of market impatience depends on one's style of
investing/trading and time-frame. I personally do my best to not let good trades
turn bad on hopes for the future. I exit and enter when my analysis tells me to.
I am well positioned in BRN to benefit from any further rises and
intend as much as possible to keep a large parcel for the possibility of many
multiples of the current prices. Experience has taught me, however, not to fall
in love with any company to the extent that I cannot manage my positions with
a level headed technical perspective.
I am not recommending that anyone sell at this, or any, particular level.
For full disclosure, I did not take profit today (nor did I add), though I am
moving up stops on parts of my positions. For now, the technicals are
very strong and looking like a great weekly close coming.
Pure fundamental investors probably are not even looking at this thread
and it's a different ball-game for someone clued up enough to value this
company with confidence (and hopefully historical success).
Excuse the lengthy reply, thought it worth trying to be clear.
