Bombora confident of 30pc

Mike Hill, the managing director of Bombora Group, is confident of achieving a return of more than 30 per cent in 2020.
The strategy used in the Bombora Special Investments Growth Fund, which was up 52.89 per cent in 2019, had been running for six years before it was seeded with capital and opened to the public 18 months ago.
"We do pre-IPO and listed equities in the small/micro cap world but we are much more active than traditional funds," Hill says.

"We take board roles and drive the portfolio investments like a private equity fund, just the companies happen to be either listed or we IPO them, which opens them up to capital markets funds for accelerated growth."
He says Bombora thinks of the fund as a hybrid between a private equity/venture fund and a equity fund manager.
"We're not reliant on the bigger market to perform," he says. "We find our deals, invest in them and bring them to market at the right time."
He says Bombora has generated huge returns from companies like Rhipe, Livetiles, Acrow Formwork, Janison Education Group and PKS Holdings.
