I agree with you, but risk is relative as well. If you only have 500 dollars in the bank and you put all 500 dollars into a share, you are a risk seeking person. However if you have 50 million, but you put $50000 in a share, does the amount you put in reflect on how risky you are? My point is that, using current holdings to allocate shares make sense, but it doesn't reflect on your risk appetite.
