Rules No. 1
when it comes to investment you should not bet your house on it (as you said second mortgage), you should only invest your surplus money and if you lose it then your daily life will not be effected.
if you are crazy like me then different scenarios-
Investing in one stock is a foolish decision- I did,
My net capital was or is (without kcn and my home) is negative $150k (last 6-8years)
If kcn went burst then I had to reset my life from the beginning (I’m still under 40 and making decent amount of money, so do have plenty of time to reset and fix my financial situation)
Rewards, if kcn reopen the mine and share trades above $3 (not selling my shares less than $7 which is my number) then I can spent rest of my life on boat not thinking about working again and it won’t make any difference in my life, but I will work (love my game).
Careful when you are taking risks mate.
