I always had difficulties with that falling wedge.
I've posted the example they've used @ StockCharts with time added to both ends of the pattern.
The contrast between this & CVI is that the pattern is only a small percentage of the prior trend whereas with your CVI example the pattern is the trend.
These patterns, (both continuation/reversal), are only meant to form joins between trends, (up/up, up/down, down/down etc, etc), but that's only my opinion, I'm not trying to force your agreement.
