Some great points you raised here and whilst a surprise to the upside in some asx profit announcements leads to a share spike, the potential continuing momentum to some extent factors in the future also.

But the market cap is what the market values a company today based on what information is out there today.

Tomorrow is another day.

Don't forget companies with no income can be valued at a billion. A weebit of luck and a loose brainchip are proof of that and the future expectations of both of those was certainly factored in to the price.
