In this type of businesses, fixed costs are normally the initial outlay, it is high but relatively fixed. Thus the initial loss because of low customer numbers. The new customers will pay the fixed costs , once this is covered any new business will mainly paid for the variable cost. Unit cost will now be lower because of scale and both margin and sales will improve profitability. We come off a very low base thus the probable sharp increase in profit. Initial growth will be dynamic and will only slow down after the initial few years.
