you are overthinking it. This is the chart thread - not the fundamentals thread.

The stock is largely correlated with the ASX (this is true for all stocks by and large), which is correlated with many things, particularly US markets (hence todays price movements). Of course, there is going to be no connection with an FDA approval, and of course, there are peculiar days when MSB does its own thing (to the upside and the downside). But when we are a while away (in my estimation) from company specific announcements etc. - the stock will largely track wider market movements.

If you are interested in buying more or averaging, you might make a call that equities have largely been oversold from a top down perspective. For instance, with respect to GDP comments - you might say hmmm... perhaps the ASX was oversold and this particularly has been the case for MSB today at 6% - I will therefore buy a bit more. Or maybe you will say (Say, in particular, the GDP data was poor) - more damage to come, I'll hold off for a bit until market uncertainty/volatility dies down a bit: I still want to buy given my sentiment, but I think I will have a chance at getting better prices later.

And perhaps you don't care and are just happy to take the price of the day. In that case, I would say, why do you care about "gap fills" and other technical analysis, which is academically/empirically questionable with respect to its utility, anyway?
