You'll be fine with MS, it's still some of the best software available, if anyone tells you otherwise then quite simply they would be wrong.
I would also suggest you look at bullcharts. It's an Australian company and a very good product, also their data packages are quite good. Without knowing your skill level both packages can cater for novices with some basic education and grow as your skills develop.
