There were no Aussies on Air New Zealand Flight 901 into Mt Erebus so u would hope AIZ had a good reputation outside New Zealand as some kiwis on both the North and South Island have still not forgotten both the accident and the cover up (and subsequent Court and Privy Council cases).
Some have put to me that a kiwi flying Air New Zealand would be a bit like an American voting for President Nixon after the Watergate impeachment. I have personally repudiated that but accept the anger, as misguided as it may be.
AIZ needs a great reputation in Australia as some in NZ refuse to fly AIZ and prefer QAN/ Jetstar until the McCully apology comes from Air New Zealand. Fyfe could not do, can Luxon?
