Why would sentiment suddenly change tomorrow without any more positive news on the progress of the technology?

In your experience using charts do many buyers or sellers ever look at the chart and think oh I better buy now and close that gap or decide let someone else close the gap today and they might try tomorrow? I always considered charts to be the historical and sometimes seasonal results of random buying and selling of shares after the event mainly but also give us a clue that if others follow charts with such a passion they might help make the future possibility of a price rise or fall all the more likely come true if the information remains constant. Charts can be handy imo to predicting the future to some minor degree but surely the main decider must be the financial fundamentals of the business.
