It never actually broke down, just slid into the lower half of the base and rallied up in a bear flag like manner. It found a little more volume today but still hardly convincing, however the next pullback in this base assuming it has one will be interesting for a buying opportunity, need to just wait and see if and how it happens.
As for long term investing, my aim is always longer term but I take a risk first approach to the market which is why I'm still here after nearly 20 years and will still be here 20 years from now if I am still enjoying it, this means I NEVER let losses balloon .... "I'd rather be out of a trade I wished I was in than in a trade I wished I was out of".
I get it, every funnymental investor on HC is the next Warren Buffett, you'd be amazed how many of them don't survive more than one market cycle though. Each to their own though as you say, if you've proven over a long period of time that you can be in the right stocks often enough to make good money, whatever method you use, you're part of about 5% of the investing public that actually makes money so well done
