Hi Arthur,
I want to load up a weeks worth of activity data (on an ongoing basis) and isolate medium to high volume turnover companies that have large daily swings in the share prices, for the purpose of trading warrents and options) .
Rather than manually go through the top 100 companies daily charts for the past 5 days I imagine that there must be an indicator that you could use to pinpoint such companies. For example (and I dont think this works but have yet to test it) :
Daily Sale Ratio = The average daily sale price (total value/total volume) / The average day price (open price+close price/2)
If you then calculate this over 5 days and then calculate the variance between the minimum and the maximum for the week the larger this value may be a good indicator of volatility.
So IF this were the case the volatility indicator could be calculated daily for the top 100 companies and sorted in descending order to give a "hit list" of good potential day trades.
Thats the theory .. lol... I've got to see if it works now ...
