Share price is going to go lower, as it is anticipated that paying 28 CPS annually is unsustainable. With Interest Rates on the increase, if you cannot increase your dividends, then your share price retreats to cover the difference.
If you look at the other announcements PBG, SKE they are not paying dividends, mainlt to pay down debt and conserve cash.
Telstra on the other hand still pay a dividend and are working on ways to evolve, within the bounds of their wholesale commitments, without being dragged over the coals by the ACCC. They have debt and are paying it down where required.
When they were talking about rolling out a FTTN, they wanted to make sure it was not legislated, that they needed to wholesale it, before committing to it. This got shot down.
Look at the investment that they are doing with NextG, they have Dual Carrier which could theoretically run at 42Mps, for regional companies with current 3g connections this is going to work well.
