The software i use is called Amibroker, if you want to try it, grab the trial version from on their site. You can't go wrong with it for a one off US$200 for life time updates. It's a very customisable product.

Their tech support is awesome and there is a very large online community of people who write custom indicators and add-ons for it.

I'm not sure who your broker is, but i'm with Commsec and i use their free EOD (end of day) data and i also use their 20 second intra day data for finding entries or when day trading.

In case anyone asks, no i'm not affiliated with them!

At the end of the day most packages all do the same thing, it's down to the operator.
