    Hi Bitola.

There is an article in today’s Sunday Mail in Adelaide on p13 by reporter Sarah Blake.
The headline reads ‘Home test kit ban anger’.
In essence the article states that desperate businesses are demanding that the federal government remove a “crazy” ban on Australian made home COVID-19 tests that are widely used overseas.
The article also mentions the Brisbane start-up Ellume’s DIY tests give results in 15 minutes and that they are sold in pharmacies across the US.
It mentions that the RAT kits are approved by the FDA but can’t be sold in Australia because home-use test kits have been banned by the Therapeutic Goods Admimistration (TGA) since 2010.
However, there have been exceptions in the past, most notably, HIV tests in 2014 and for other diseases, including flu in 2019.
Business leaders have come out stating that they are paying $160 a test which could take four days to return tests.
They are saying how the country could open up and that it’s crazy- who would not want to take it up ?
The article finishes with the Health Department saying COVID tests should be processed only by “ accredited pathology laboratories”.
Imo this smacks of big pharma looking after their turf.
Crack dealers never liked anyone taking over their corner.
People should take to social media and flood their MPs with their concerns, IMO.

    T.
