It must have been early 2007 that I went to the mine. They had been producing small amounts of silver powder from the electrowinning process. The whole site was operating: trucks, crushers, leach pads. The Managing Director came out from the Gold Coast (also a three hour drive for him) to show us round. There were five in our party altogether, and a couple of us got the impression that he was keen that he was the only one to talk to us. We were not allowed to see the production plant. He said that it was because the spray from the cyanide leach plants was drifting over to the building. While this was true, I was uneasy about the way he said it. In any case, who would design a factory that can't be operated if the wind is in the wrong direction? So I sold at 30c - the site visit saved me a lot of money.
Then we went into Texas for a meal, where the local people were all confident that it would be $1 before Christmas.
I will ask a friend if he has his photos from the trip.
