The skilled migration visa policy is one of the controls to slow spending in an economy with a huge deficit rather than tweaking interest rates up.
Too bad for first homeowners that took the fed grant, er, bait, that locks the first homeowner into a loan, now they are/will compete with lower payed workers for a job.
Mortgagee sales are on the increase. Hum…
Accountants say importing cheap(er) workers are being used to make Australia more competitive with world markets and to head off the trend of businesses moving off shore... but at a cost, "keeping interest rates low".
